Dear Mariner Families,
We’re excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with our students, and we need your help to make these events a success! Please see the attached flyer for a full list of activities happening during lunch times from September 15–October 15, including Lotería, crafts, music, read-alongs, and other surprise activities.
We are looking for parent volunteers who already have district-issued volunteer badges to: Host activities (Lotería, crafts, reading aloud, music) and Help decorate our school to showcase Hispanic culture and traditions.
If you’re available to assist, please connect with our Community Outreach Family Advocate (Ms. Laura Quiroz - laura.esperanza@perrisesd.org). Your participation will help create a fun and meaningful celebration for our students!
Thank you for helping IHCS honor and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!

Dear Kindergarten Parents and Guardians,
I want to take a moment to address a situation that occurred at dismissal today, August 19th, which understandably caused concern for some of our families.
This afternoon, a kindergarten student was signed in to our after-school program instead of being dismissed directly to their parents. The student was always supervised and safe—our staff members accompanied the student at all times. The student was reunited with their parents approximately ten minutes after dismissal.
We recognize how distressing this moment felt and apologize for the confusion it caused. Please know that your child’s safety is our highest priority. We have reviewed our dismissal procedures with our after-school staff to prevent this from happening again and to ensure that every child is dismissed according to parent expectations.
Thank you for your patience during dismissal. Lines are currently moving a bit slower as our teachers learn to recognize each family and ensure a safe, personal handoff. As routines become familiar, the process will move more quickly.
We appreciate your trust and patience as we continue working together to keep all of our students safe. If you have any questions or would like to discuss our dismissal process further, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.
Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership.
Warm regards,
Andrew Candelaria
Principal
