Our STEAM Instructional Focus
Clearwater Elementary was founded in August 2016 to offer families a specialized, high-quality educational choice within the district. Our vision is to establish a comprehensive STEAM instructional program by fully integrating STEAM into all content areas through hands-on, Project-Based Learning (PBL). Built on a strong foundation of intensive training with the Buck Institute, our founding teacher teams collaboratively designed three core PBL units for every grade level. This co-creation process successfully established a foundational school culture rooted in pride, shared ownership, high expectations, and a deep responsibility to our students.
Building on the strong collaborative foundation of our educators, Clearwater continues to thrive. Our teachers proactively welcome and mentor new team members, empowering them to seamlessly carry forward our school's core values. To keep our curriculum fresh and rigorous, our teachers regularly engage in professional development, including district-sponsored summer PBL training. Furthermore, we are strategically evolving by collaborating with RCOE Stem Pathways/Carnegie to update and elevate our PBL units. This initiative replicates our original co-creation process, ensuring that our newest team members develop the same deep sense of ownership and pride in the curriculum as our founding staff.
