• A Message from the SuperintendentPESD Logo

Welcome to Perris Elementary School District where caring and dedicated teachers and staff provide an environment that supports the academic growth, goals and future dreams of all students!

The start of a new school year is an exciting time not only for students and families, but for our district staff as well. Our staff is committed to providing students a safe, positive learning environment which enables education to thrive.

As you have noticed this year we have unveiled our new district logo. We believe the fresh new design visually represents our desire to inspire students to see a future without limits; to develop their ability to communicate beliefs, ideas, and develop and maintain a passion to learn.

I believe that this year is going to be another great school year, filled with exciting programs and projects.  This year we look forward to:

    • The first year of implementation of our first Dual Language Immersion program at Sky View Elementary where we have two classrooms of kindergarten students being instructed in two languages, English and Spanish. Each year we will add another grade level to the program, as our long term goal is to have students attain bi-literacy in both languages.
    • Having our EdSCouT, a council made up of teachers from across the district, strengthen the alignment of our curriculum (units of study, curriculum, assessments and report cards) to the California Standards.
    • Sharpening our focus on school safety through the revision of the district and school site safety plans, providing Active Shooter training to staff, implementing safety drills with students, continuing implementation of our MTSS (multi-tiered system of supports) which includes prevention programs such as PBIS, Restorative Practices and anti-bullying campaigns.
    • Continuing into our second year of our Saturday STEAM Academy enrichment program. Our schools are expanding their programs to seven Saturdays throughout the year.

In addition, beyond the regular routine maintenance of our schools, this year we will be actively pursuing state approvals and completing the bidding process for major projects at two of our schools, Innovative Horizons Charter School at Nan Sanders and Palms Elementary.

At Innovative Horizon’s Charter School at Nan Sanders, we will be building a new gymnasium/multipurpose room with a new kitchen, band room and a stage. The project will also include the building of new locker rooms and a new two-story classroom building.

At Palms Elementary, we will be replacing all of the HVAC (Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) units along with replacing much of the asphalt at the school. Both projects, once fully approved and the bidding processes complete are slated to start construction at the end of the school year.

I look forward to this new school year and to working with families, staff and the community to provide the best educational opportunities for the children of Perris.
